A Georgian Gentleman’s Set of Buttons - French. Late 18th Century - Jessie's Private Collection.
They are made from many materials such as glass, enamel, silver, steel, copper, painting on parchment, precious and semi precious stones. The ‘Habitat’ buttons contain seaweed, feathers or even a dead grasshopper shown on this paper.
Ladies did not have decorated buttons in the same way until 1840.
