Frederica Ann Hollas: A personal profile

I was brought up in the Regency town of Cheltenham which is full of imposing Regency architecture. Surrounded by fascinating antiques throughout my childhood, I developed an interest for collecting like my parents and grandparents.

This nurtured a lifelong passion for art and I went on to study Graphic Design at school and at Bath Spa University where I gained a degree in Graphic Design specialising in Photography and  Illustration. I have worked in that field ever since, collecting artefacts and creating lots of ideas along the way. I particularly like early Georgian ceramics.

For the last 30 years I have lived in the Georgian city of Bath. It is a very inspiring place to be with 15 museums ¬†regularly showing new exhibitions. I worked at the Museum of East Asian Art in Bath as the Shop Manager. Later I went to work at No 1 Royal Crescent Museum as Administrator and Shop Buyer. At both museums I designed wrapping papers and cards to supplement the shop’s merchandise.

In 2000 I set up my own business designing classical cards, wrapping papers and gift tags. I started with 6 designs of each and now have 102 different cards, 45 different wrapping papers and 48 gift tags. I enjoy collaborating with others, and have worked with independent collectors, auctions rooms, designers and museums. Many of the cards are available as high quality prints for mounting and framing.

I am constantly hunting for unusual items which catch my eye. Sharing these has brought sales of prints, cards, wrapping papers and gift tags to the public and via museums, cathedrals, cultural organisations and retailers throughout the UK and abroad.
